About Nekea Strong, AMFT, APCC
Training and Specialties
Hi, I’m glad you’re here! My name is Nekea (nuh-key-yah).
As a clinician, I understand how the different parts of “who we are” shape how we see and engage with the world. I enjoy working with individuals, groups, and couples from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and cultural perspectives, and I have particular experience supporting women, people of color, adolescents, and public figures.
My approach is rooted in a deep commitment to inclusivity and collaboration. I am trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Level 1 of the Gottman Method.
I graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor.
My Mission
I offer clients a safe, non-judgmental space where they can openly explore their identities, life experiences, and emotions. I recognize that many people carry unspoken stories rooted in cultural identity, childhood trauma, and shame, often without having the language or support to process them. In our work together, I aim to help you give voice to those experiences, offering compassion, curiosity, and care as you make sense of your past and move toward healing.
When I’m Not Doing Therapy
I love exploring new travel destinations, staying physically active, reading, and writing as a creative outlet. Another exciting hobby I partake in occasionally is flying Cessna aircrafts.
